Meeting Minutes: 07-27-2007

Decisions:

  • Add a panel discussion to the program with representation from faculty, TAs and students on the panel.
  • For the microteaching groups, participants of the workshop will be divided roughly based on the areas in which the class they are TA-ing for falls (Architecture, Networks, Systems, etc.).

Action items:

  • Prepare the demo microteaching lecture and the lecture planning guidelines [Mark R.]
  • Come up with a list of panelists and contact them. Prepare seed questions for the panelists, post them under the Panel Discussion page. We will dsicuss them at 08/30 meeting. [Shesha & Diane]
  • Check if we can record microlectures. Make reservations if possible. [Diane]
  • Add microlecturing topics on the wiki. Include the learning goals of the lecture (for the TA participants to know what their objective is) and tag the topic with the class which the TA should assume the microlecture is for. [ALL]
  • Come up with a structure of the microteaching exercise on Grading. [Animesh] Chip in to add learning goals of this module/session. [ALL] We will discuss them next week.
  • Come up with a structure of the microteaching exercise on Interacting with Students and Faculty. [Ashok] Chip in to add learning goals of this module/session. [ALL] We will discuss them next week.
  • Form the four microteaching groups. [Diane & Bilal]
  • Send out invitations to join the wiki administrators so that everyone can modify this wiki. [Bilal]
  • Setup a "make-up" meeting on Tuesday for TAs who couldn't attend. [Bilal] Attend the make-up meeting :) [Mark, Godwin, Sean and Tony]

Next week, we'll meet again at 2:30pm on Friday, August 03. (The make-up meeting on Tuesday is only for TAs who couldn't attend this meeting).
